UPDATE 10PM | A WOMAN has been charged with murdering a 13-month-old baby who was found stabbed to death at a house in Melbourne’s north on Monday morning.
The 28-year-old woman was arrested by police at the Fordham Road home in Reservoir at around 11am after a family member found the infant’s body and called triple zero.
The woman, who police say was known to the baby, was arrested at the scene and on Monday night was charged with one count of murder. She is due to front Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

FIRST: A 13-MONTH-OLD baby girl has been found stabbed to death at a house in Melbourne’s north.
Emergency services were called to the Fordham Road home in Reservoir just after 11am on Monday.
It’s understood a family member had raised the alarm after making the horrific discovery.
Police released a statement just after 2.30pm, confirming the devastating news.
“[the] 13-month-old girl was located deceased with what are believed to be stab wounds,” police said.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the house and is currently being interviewed by detectives.

Police said the woman was known to the baby, however, have not confirmed if she was the toddler’s mother.
Three other children were also at the home at the time, police said, but they were not harmed.
Police have confirmed they are not looking for any other person in relation to the matter.
