Woman arrested over brutal attack on Gold Coast grandfather

POLICE have this afternoon arrested a young woman over the brutal assault of a 70-year-old grandfather outside a Gold Coast mall earlier this week.

It’s alleged the women and her partner each unleashed a flurry of punches on the elderly man in front of their young child and horrified shoppers outside the Terry White Chemist at the Nerang Mall shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon.

CCTV footage shows the couple beating the man on the footpath until terrified witnesses and centre staff intervened and they fled the scene in a car with NSW registration.

The grandfather was left blooded, bruised and with a suspected fractured eye socket and a chipped tooth.

The 21-year-old woman was arrested on Friday afternoon and charged with assault.

The Bulletin reports police are still hunting for a 31-year-old male.
