Woman bailed up, sexually assaulted and choked by flatmate in NSW

A young man will face court today, charged with threatening, choking and sexually assaulting his older female flatmate in Sydney’s west.

Police said the 23-year-old man allegedly bailed up the 31-year-old woman, with whom he shares a house on Kerrs Road in Lidcombe, in her bedroom just after midday yesterday.

The young man allegedly threatened the woman before sexually assaulting her.

Police said a struggle then broke out between the pair, after which the woman managed to escape and run to a nearby business to raise the alarm.

Local police with the assistance of officers from the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad raced to the scene and arrested the 23-year-old man at the home.

It’s alleged the man had attempted to choke the woman during the struggled that followed the alleged sex attack.

The woman, who police say was suffering from minor injuries, was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The man was taken to Blacktown Hospital for medical treatment and a mental health assessment before being conveyed to Auburn Police Station where he has since been charged with aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm and choke etc person with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court today.
