Woman beaten with metal bar in savage attack

A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after allegedly beating a 45-year-old woman over the head with a metal bar in a savage attack in Bundaberg, north of the Sunshine Coast.

Queensland Police said they were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Quinlan Street in the suburb of Kepnock about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Police said officers arrived at the home to find a 45-year-old woman with severe head injuries.

It’s alleged the woman had been bludgeoned with a metal bar by a 21-year-old man following a disagreement.

Police said the man, who is known to the woman, allegedly struck her “a number of times” with the bar.

She was treated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

The 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody overnight and due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court today.

The man’s relationship with the woman is not known.
