Woman bitten by wombat at Qld wildlife park

A WOMAN has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a wombat at a wildlife park in Woombye on the Sunshine Coast.

The 46-year-old is believed to have been in a petting area of the park when she was bitten on the calf by the animal just before 10.30am on Monday.

Queensland Ambulance Sunshine Coast Senior Operations Supervisor Mark Fisher said the woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for a “fairly deep bite”.

She was then taken to the Sunshine Coast Hospital for further treatment.
