POLICE are appealing for public information after a woman was carjacked by a man armed with a pair of scissors in Melbourne’s south-east yesterday.
Police said the local woman was parked on Mavis Avenue, beside Landcox Park, in Brighton East around 1.35pm when she noticed a man walk towards her car from the car park.
The man allegedly walked past the woman’s car before doubling back and approaching the driver’s side door.

Police said the man then allegedly opened the door and threatened the 49-year-old woman with a pair of scissors.
The victim grabbed hold of the scissors at which point the offender allegedly grabbed her by the arm and dragged her out of the vehicle.
The man then drove off in the woman’s silver 2007 Toyota Camry sedan with UYZ 360. He was last seen driving towards Milroy Street and the Nepean Highway.
The woman’s phone and a tablet were also in the car at the time. She made her way to a nearby cafe from where she called police.
Fortunately, the woman was not physically injured.
Detectives from Glen Eira Bayside Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or has information about the car or offender to come forward.
The man involved is perceived to be African in appearance and is described as being about 185cm tall.
Police said he spoke English well and was wearing tracksuit pants, a blue top with black writing, light coloured runners and a cap.
