Woman charged over abduction and assault in Sydney

A woman will face court on Thursday, accused of abducting and assaulting a man in inner Sydney last month.

Emergency crews were called to South Dowling Street, Waterloo, amid reports an injured man was sitting outside an apartment complex.

Paramedics treated the 25-year-old man, before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he underwent surgery for a number of stab wounds.

A police investigation was launched, then on Wednesday afternoon a 24-year-old woman was arrested at a unit on Walker Street, Redfern.

She was taken to Redfern Police Station, where she was charged by virtue of an arrest warrant for the offences of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and, take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police will allege in court that the man had been kidnapped from Hornsby and stabbed, before he escaped from a vehicle.

The woman was refused bail, and will appear at Hornsby Local Court on Thursday.

A 49-year-old man remains before the courts, also in relation to the alleged attempted abduction.

The injured man has since been released from hospital.
