Woman charged after crashing through Gold Coast border in alleged stolen car

A 21-year-old woman’s been slapped with charges, fines and directed into hotel quarantine, after crashing through the border at Tugun yesterday.

NSW Police initially spotted the woman allegedly driving a stolen car down the M1 at Sleepy Hollow around midday, before tracking her north.

She failed to stop for NSW police, and when she reached the Queensland border, allegedly failed to stop at the M1 Vehicle Checkpoint in Tugun.

The 4WD continued travelling north for a short period of time before colliding with another car at the intersection of Guineas Creek Road and K P McGrath Drive in Elanora.

Luckily, there were no injuries as a result of the crash, but the Booval woman was arrested at the scene.

She’s since been charged with multiple traffic offences and fined $4,135 for breaching the Chief Health Officer’s border direction.

She’s also been sent into hotel quarantine at her own expense.

Her charges include unlicensed driving, driving without due care and attention and driving an unregistered vehicle.
