Woman charged over brutal assault on elderly woman at shopping centre

A woman accused of a brutal assault on an elderly woman at a shopping centre in Victoria has handed herself into police.

On Friday 16 December, a 93-year-old woman was in a carpark at a shopping centre in Cheltenham when she was allegedly violently pushed over, breaking her hip and wrist.

Detectives released CCTV images of a woman believed to have been responsible for the assault yesterday and this morning, a  38-year-old Mordialloc woman handed herself in to police.


She has since been charged with  recklessly cause serious injury and is due to face Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on 31 March 2017.

The elderly woman is recovering in hospital, where she will remain over Christmas.
