Woman charged with drink driving following late night tram slam

A LOGAN woman has been charged with drink driving after crashing her car into a tram on the Gold Coast.

The 26-year-old woman from Browns Plains collided with the light rail at the intersection of the Gold Coast Highway and Hooker Boulevard at Broadbeach around midnight on Saturday.

Police raced to the scene and breath tested the woman, who allegedly returned a positive reading.

It’s alleged the woman blew 0.136, which is almost three times the legal limit.

She was charged with driving under the influence and will face court on 24 October.

No one was injured in the collision.

The incident halted light rail services for around an hour, with trams suspended in both directions between Broadbeach and Cavill Avenue until around 1am.
