Woman charged after man bashed and tied up in Tweed home invasion

UPDATE @ December 4, 6.20am: A WOMAN has been charged after a man was tied up and bashed in a terrifying home invasion at Banora Point on Sunday.

Another man and a woman forced their way inside the Banora Point property around 3.30am, before threatening the male resident with a knife.

The 41-year-old was assaulted and tied up, but managed to escape and call authorities.

He was treated at the scene for facial injuries by paramedics.

Police officers searching the Firestone Drive house found a woman inside, who was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

She has since been charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence – inflict actual bodily harm, take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage, and good in custody.

She was refused bail to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court today.

Meanwhile, investigations continue with police still searching for a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being about 35-years-old, of Caucasian appearance with black hair and was wearing a grey top and black-coloured jeans.

Police say the man stole a silver-coloured Ford Kuga SUV, with specialised ‘Broncos’ number plates, from the home with NSW registration “04LIFE”.

It was sighted in the Tweed Heads central business district about 10am Sunday.

EARLIER @ December 3: A man has been terrified in his own home, during an aggravated break-in in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Another man and a woman forced their way inside the Banora Point property around 3.30am, before threatening the male resident with a knife.

The 41-year-old was assaulted and tied up, but managed to escape and call authorities.

He was treated at the scene for facial injuries by paramedics, but declined hospital treatment.

Police officers searching the Firestone Drive house found a woman inside, who was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

She is currently being questioned by police. However, her alleged male accomplice remains on the run.

He is described as being about 35-years-old, of Caucasian appearance with black hair and was wearing a grey top and black-coloured jeans.
