Woman charged after man hit and killed by car on Sydney footpath

A WOMAN has been charged after a man was hit and killed by a car in Sydney’s north last week.

Emergency crews were called to Berowra Waters Road at Berowra around 12.25pm on Monday 26 February, after reports a BMW X3 had struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, an 85-year-old man, died at the scene despite desperate attempts by paramedics to save him.

The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old woman, escaped injury and was taken to Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

About 6.30pm yesterday, police arrested the woman at her home.

She was taken to Hornsby Police Station where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasion death. Her driver’s licence was also suspended.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 4 April.
