Woman charged over alleged drug death of teenage boy

A woman has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 15-year-old boy in Central Queensland last year.

The teen was found unresponsive in a home in North Mackay on September 30.

He was rushed to Mackay Base Hospital but died the following day.

Five other children who were at the home were also taken to hospital for treatment.

Police will now allege a 36-year-old woman who lived at the property supplied large amount of a strong prescription drug to the six children.

The woman was arrested in Brisbane yesterday and charged with one count of manslaughter and grievous bodily harm, two counts of negligent acts causing harm and supply medicines or hazardous poisons.

She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
