Woman charged over alleged horrific abuse of young girl at Sydney home

A WOMAN has been charged over the alleged horrific physical abuse of a 13-year-old girl in Sydney’s west.

Police say the youngster suffered bruising, swelling and welts to her thighs, back and arms after the 50-year-old woman allegedly assaulted the girl with a wire object at a home last week.

The teen was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for treatment following the alleged attack and has since been released.

Following investigations, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad arrested the woman at Parramatta Police Station about 6pm last Thursday.

She has since been charged with going armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).

The woman was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
