Woman charged over crash that claimed life of passenger in Qld

A young woman has been charged over a horror crash in the South Burnett region earlier this year, which claimed the life of one of her passengers and seriously injured another.

Police allege the 24-year-old woman from Springfield failed to give way to an oncoming car on Chinchilla Wondai Road at Cushnie on January 15.

It resulted in the two vehicles colliding, with the 22-year-old female passenger of the woman’s car dying at the scene.

Her other passenger, a 22-year-old Surfers Paradise man, was seriously injured and airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

The driver of the other car miraculously managed to escape serious injury.

Following investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit, the woman was today charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm.

She’s been issued with a notice to appear at the Murgon Magistrates Court on November 30.
