Woman charged after toddler dies in Sydney’s west

Police have charged a woman after a toddler was killed in Sydney’s west last month.

On Thursday April 7, a woman was walking with a one year old boy along Marion Street at Auburn.

Police will allege that a Toyota sedan allegedly struck the 50-year-old woman and child.

The boy was treated at the scene by New South Wales Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital where he later died.

The woman was taken to Westmead Hospital suffering shock.

The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old woman, was taken to Auburn Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit on Tuesday afternoon charged the woman with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and cause bodily harm by misconduct.

She is expected to appear at Burwood Local Court on July 25.

The woman was subsequently issued with a notice of suspension and her licence was surrendered.
