Woman charged after trying to run over couple walking down Qld street

A 26-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly tried to deliberately run over a couple walking down a street in Brisbane yesterday.

Police said that just after 2.00pm, a man and woman were walking east on Zillmere Road at Zillmere when a car came accelerating towards them at high speed.

“A silver Mitsubishi Magna driven by a woman, was heading west on Zillmere Road. It is alleged the vehicle has slowed before turning toward the pedestrians and accelerating across the road, mounting the gutter and driving along the footpath at them,” police said in a statement.

Miraculously, the pair managed to jump out of the way of the car and escaped injury.

The woman then sped off, however was arrested at a nearby home shortly after.

She was charged with two counts of attempted murder and is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Police say the trio are known to each other.
