Woman charged with attempted murder after trying to stab man on Gold Coast

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly tried to stab a man at a home on the Gold Coast.

Police said the incident unfolded at a home on Hillridge Crescent in Varsity Lakes around 11.00pm on Sunday.

It’s alleged the 40-year-old Paradise Point woman turned up at the home and attempted to stab a 29-year-old man through a security door.

“It’s further alleged the woman used a metal bar to smash through a window and made threats to kill the man,” Qld police said in a statement.

Police arrived on scene a short time later and took the woman into custody.

She was taken to the Southport Watchhouse, where she was charged with one count each of attempted murder and attempted burglary.

The woman is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Police said the man managed to escape serious injury, and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from where glass had shattered on him.
