Woman charged over alleged murder of six-month old baby

A WOMAN has been charged with child abuse offences following the alleged murder of a six-month old baby in the NSW Hunter region.

The little boy died in John Hunter Hospital on February 10, a day after being rushed there in a critical condition following an incident at a New Lambton home.

A post-mortem found the baby had gone into cardiac arrest after suffering a traumatic head injury.


Detectives yesterday arrested a 26-year-old woman at a home in Marrickville and took her to Newtown Police Station where she was charged with do act with intent to pervert the course of justice, failure of provide for child causing danger of death, and drive whilst disqualified.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court today.

Detectives have already charged a 28-year-old man with murder over the baby’s death. He remains before the courts.
