NSW Police Highway Patrol

A WOMAN has been charged with smashing a schooner glass in the face of man who accidentally spilt a drink on her at a hotel at Albion Park, Shellharbour, overnight.

Police say a 23-year-old man was drinking with friends at the Tongarra Road hotel when, just after midnight he accidentally spilt a drink on a woman he didn’t know.

He then went to the bar to get paper towel and upon returning to hand it to the woman, it’s alleged she struck him in the face with a schooner glass.

The man was treated by Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Shellharbour Hospital with cuts to his forehead.

Police arrested a 26-year-old woman nearby and took her to Lake Illawarra Police Station where she was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She has since been granted strict conditional bail to appear before Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 25 November.

Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation into the incident and are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet provided a statement to come forward.
