Woman charged with murdering former girlfriend

A WOMAN has been charged with murder after allegedly killing her former girlfriend at unit block in Sydney.

Shuyu Zhou, 23, plunged to her death from a fifth floor balcony in Zetland on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to the Rose Valley Way apartment building about 8.45pm and found the woman unconscious on the ground after landing on a fence.

Paramedics tried reviving the young woman but sadly she could not be saved and died at the scene.

It’s alleged the woman was either thrown or forced over the balcony, allegedly by her former girlfriend Zixi Wang, 29, who is believed to own the fifth floor apartment.

Neighbours told 7NEWS it sounded like someone was being murdered inside the unit, moments before Ms Zhou plunged to her death.

A large amount of blood was also allegedly found inside the unit.

Detectives established Strike Force Deepfield to investigate Ms Zhou death and, two hours after issuing a public appeal to find her alleged killer, arrested her former girlfriend in a car park near Wollongong.

Ms Wang was taken to Wollongong Police Station and last night formally charged with murder.

She’s also charged with stealing a white Mercedes.

The 29-year-old was remanded in custody overnight and due to appear in Wollongong Local Court today.
