A WOMAN has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to kill a seven-year-old boy at a home in far north Queensland.
The 26-year-old is accused of attacking the child with a knife at a home in the Cairns suburb of Woree about 7am on Monday, March 18.
Police said a second woman who was at the property stepped in and disarmed the 26-year-old before fleeing with the 7-year-old to a neighbour’s house from where she called triple zero.

The boy suffered a cut to his chest and was taken to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment. He has since been released.
On Thursday, Queensland Police said they have charged the 26-year-old with attempted murder and attempted assault occasioning bodily harm.
She was expected to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Police confirmed the woman is related to the child, but have not revealed how.
