Woman choked, stabbed in chest, neck with scissors in frenzied attack

A WOMAN is lucky to be alive after being choked and stabbed in the chest and neck with a pair of scissors in a horror domestic violence-related attack at a house in Newcastle overnight.

Emergency services were called to the Young Road home in Lambton around 9pm following reports that a woman had been stabbed.

It’s alleged a 23-year-old man had choked the 24-year-old woman before stabbing her multiple times in the chest and neck with a pair of scissors.


The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where she remains in a stable condition today, lucky to be alive.

Her alleged attacker was arrested at the scene and taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, reckless wounding and choking.

The 23-year-old man was remanded in custody overnight and due to appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
