Woman critical after being attacked with vacuum tube and knife

A teenager has been charged over the horrific assault of two women and a man in Sydney.

The 19-year-old is accused of attacking a 56-year-old woman with a vacuum cleaner tube and a kitchen knife at a unit block in Abbotsford around 10am yesterday.

The woman suffered critical injuries in the attack and was rushed to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where she remains.

A 76-year-old man was also injured by the male teen at the property, while a 42-year-old female neighbour suffered minor injuries when she ran to the older woman’s aid.

They were both hospitalised in a stable condition.

The young man was arrested at the scene by police and has since been charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

He’s due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.

Police say the alleged attacker and victims are all believed to be known to each other.
