Woman ‘critical’ after quad bike hits pig

A WOMAN has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after the quad bike she was on struck a wild pig in Townsville.

The 31-year-old was thrown from the bike when it collided with the pig on Riverway Drive shortly before 5am on Saturday.

Police said the woman was sitting on the back of the bike, which was being ridden by a 35-year-old man, at the time.

The woman sustained life-threatening head injuries and was rushed to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.

Police said the man and woman were not wearing a helmet.

Miraculously, the man somehow managed to escape serious injury. He was taken to hospital for observation, police said.
