Woman critically injured after flipping her car in late night crash

A WOMAN is in a critical condition in hospital after flipping her car in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The woman’s car left a road and rolled in the Glass House Mountains shortly after 12.30am on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the scene and found the woman trapped in the wreckage on Pikes Road.

It took firefighters several hours to cut the car apart and free the woman from the mangled mess.

The Sunshine Coast based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was also dispatched to the scene.

Its crew helped treat the woman before flying her to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said she suffered multiple trauma injuries and was flown in a critical condition.
