A woman has died after the car she was a passenger in crashed into the Tweed River.
Just before 10 pm on Sunday NIGHT the car was driving east on Tweed Valley Way, crossed the northern shoulder and became airborne.
The car landed in the Tweed River and the 51-year-old male driver was able to climb out of the open window but then realized his female passenger was still in the car..

The man was able to pull the woman out and commenced CPR until emergency services arrived.
The 57 year old woman was airlifted the Hospital in a serious condition and passed away today..
