Woman dies after car plunges into creek

A WOMAN has tragically died after the car she was a passenger in spun out of control and plunged into a creek on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Emergency services rushed to Stoney Creek at Pembrooke about 8.15am on Friday after receiving reports of two people trapped in a sinking car.

Bystanders jumped into the water and managed to pull the occupants – a man and a woman – out of the car.


Sadly, the woman could not be saved and died at the scene, police confirmed.

The man was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital with minor injuries. He is believed to have been driving the vehicle at the time.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
