A WOMAN has died after being retrieved from the ocean south of Sydney, New South Wales this morning.
Police have been told a couple were fishing off rocks in Killalea State Park at Shell Cove when the man noticed his wife was missing.
The man alerted police just after 6.30am on Saturday and a search was initiated involving surf lifesavers, local police, Kiama Marine Rescue, and the Wollongong Ambulance Rescue helicopter.

The 48-year-old woman was sighted in the ocean about 7.30am by the helicopter crew and a SLSA jetboat retrieved her from the ocean.
She was taken the Minnamurra boat ramp where CPR was initiated by surf lifesavers before NSW Ambulance Paramedics took over; however, she died at the scene.
Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command will prepare a brief for the information of the Coroner.
