Woman dies after getting hit by a car in northern NSW

A woman has tragically died after she was hit by a car in Lismore yesterday.

Emergency services rushed to Molesworth Street just after 3.00 pm following reports of that a pedestrian had been hit while crossing the road.

NSW Police reports that members of the public tried to help the woman – believed to be aged in her 70s – until paramedics arrived.

She was rushed to Lismore Base Hospital with serious injuries, but despite desperate attempts, she couldn’t be saved.

The woman is yet to be formally identified.

Meantime, the 50-year-old driver has also been taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are underway.
