A WOMAN has tragically died after slipping 50m down the side of a mountain in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
The woman, who is believed to be aged in her 50s, was reportedly abseiling down the side of Mt Ngungun in the Glass House Mountains when she fell around 50 metres on Thursday morning.
The woman was reportedly knocked unconscious in the fall and landed on a cliff face. Emergency crews trekked up the summit track to reach her, but her location proved too dangerous for paramedics.

Firefighters were called in to assist paramedics in reaching the woman but sadly it was too late. Her injuries were too severe and she could not be saved.
It’s understood the mountain was evacuated and access to the hiking trails closed off while emergency crews attempted to locate and retrieve the woman.
