Woman dies in hospital after horror hinterland crash last month

A woman who was critically injured when a trampoline flew off a trailer in the Gold Coast Hinterland last month has sadly passed away in hospital.

The 63-year-old was travelling along Mundoolan Connection Road in a Rav4 on August 23, when she collided with trampoline parts on the road and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a Toyota Hilux was carrying the trampoline when it fell off the vehicle.

The parts collided with a Hyundai, driven by a 31-year-old female, who suffered minor head injuries.

It then hit the 63-year-old woman, who had to be airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where she passed away last night.

The 39-year-old male driver of the Hilux was treated by paramedics at the scene and did not require transportation to hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
