Woman dies in partner’s arms after horror smash on South Coast mountain

A WOMAN has died despite the desperate attempts of her partner to keep her alive following a horror crash near the township of Bega, on the far south coast of NSW.

The awful accident happened on the winding Mount Darragh Road at Mount Darragh on Friday afternoon.

Police said the 67-year-old woman and her partner were driving down the mountain in separate vehicles when the woman lost control of her car, veered off the road and smashed into a tree around 4pm.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and could not be saved. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash site was declared a crime scene and examined by forensic investigators.
