Woman dies after being struck by two trucks on pedestrian crossing

A truck driver who failed to stop after running over and killing a woman on a designated pedestrian crossing in Sydney’s north has been charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

Police say the 60-year-old woman was struck by two trucks at the intersection of Pittwater Road and Condamine Street in Brookvale shortly before 9am on Friday.

The driver of the first truck, a 36-year-old man, failed to stop after hitting the woman.

The driver of the second truck, a 57-year-old man, stopped and called triple-0.

The woman died at the scene.

Shortly before 4pm, police attended a business in Girawee and arrested the 36-year-old man and seized his truck for forensic examination.

The 36-year-old was taken to Blacktown Police Station and charged with fail to stop and render aid after impact causing death and negligent driving occasioning death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on Wednesday 15 June.
