Woman dies but young boy survives shocking highway crash

A family has been left devastated, after a woman was killed in a single vehicle crash west of Brisbane.

The 33-year-old was behind the wheel of a car that was heading east on the Warrego Highway at Plainland around 3:40pm on Friday, when it left the road and hit a guard rail.

The Calamvale woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

But, remarkably a four-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the vehicle, escaped without injury.

Police are yet to confirm if he is the woman’s son.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to investigate and has asked for the drivers of two heavy vehicles who stopped to assist shortly after the crash to contact them.
