Woman, dog killed after car and train collide in northern NSW

A woman has died after her car was struck by a passenger train at Kyogle, in northern NSW.

Just after 8.00am this morning, emergency services were called to a collision between a Holden Commodore and train at a road crossing near Summerland Way and Andrew Street.

Police say the driver of the car, a 60-year-old woman died at the scene.


The woman’s dog, who was also inside the vehicle, was injured in the smash and had to be euthanized by a vet.

The train driver and around 33 passengers on board the train escaped unharmed.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, with police appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
