Woman fighting for life, man arrested after horror Qld crash

A woman has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition while a man has been arrested following a horror hit and run in Brisbane’s south overnight.

Emergency crews were called to the corner of Clendon Street and Progress Road at Wacol around 9.30pm following reports of a crash.

Police say the impact of the collision resulted in one of the vehicles hitting a power pole before it rolled and landed on its side.

The 33-year-old female driver was seriously injured and taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she remains fighting for her life.

“Police will allege the 24-year-old driver of the other car left the scene before emergency services arrived,” Qld Police said.

A police dog was called in to help track down the man, who was taken into custody after he was found hiding in nearby bushland.

He was taken the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to a police dog bite to his upper thigh.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or driving behaviour prior to the crash to come forward.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
