THE body of a man found crushed to death under a car in a Gold Coast garage yesterday may have been there for more than 24 hours before it was discovered, police say.
The 47-year-old Helensvale car enthusiast appeared to have been working under the car in the garage of his Latrobe Avenue home when, for some reason, the vehicle rolled backwards off the jack.
A neighbour made the gruesome discovery and contacted emergency services around 5.30pm on Tuesday.

A concerned work colleague asked police to check on the man earlier in the day after he failed to show up for work, but police say they were too busy to follow up the call at the time.
District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Brett MacGibbon told the Gold Coast Bulletin police had narrowed the time of death down to between 11am and 3pm on Monday but did not know exactly what happened.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
