Woman found seriously injured in remote NSW town

A WOMAN who was found lying on a road with severe head injuries in a remote town in North West NSW overnight appears to have been assaulted and left to die, police say.

The 30-year-old woman was found lying on the road on Woore Street in the small outback town of Wilcannia just before 6.30am on Saturday.

Police said the woman had suffered serious head trauma and lacerations.


She was treated at the local hospital before being airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.

Medical staff alerted police who are now working to determine how the woman sustained her injuries.
