Man charged after woman held against her will, strangled and tortured

A WOMAN has allegedly been held against her will, strangled and tortured in a horror case of domestic violence in Brisbane.

It allegedly happened at a house in Woolloongabba on Tuesday night.

Police said they were called to the property around 6pm and found a woman with a number of injuries to her face, neck and torso.


The woman was looked over by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment.

Thankfully, police said the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening.

A 20-year-old man known to the woman was arrested and has since been charged with a long list of serious offences, including three counts each of strangulation and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He has also been charged with one count of deprivation of liberty, torture, and common assault.

The 20-year-old was remanded in custody and due to front Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
