Woman hit by gunman during frightening hold-up at NSW hotel

A WOMAN has been hit in the head by a man armed with a gun during a frightening hold-up at a hotel in Sydney.

Police were called to the hotel near the corner of City Road and Broadway at Chippendale around 3.50am on Sunday after a man armed with a handgun stormed the building and threatened staff.

A female employee was struck in the head by the man before he fled the scene with a bag filled with cash.

The staffer was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Police are still searching for the alleged gunman, who was seen leaving the hotel in a small dark hatchback.

A vehicle matching the description of the gunman’s getaway car has since been found burnt-out in Leichhardt.
