A woman has died after being hit by a car in Bluewater, north of Townsville overnight.
Police said initial investigations suggest that around 6:45pm, a car was travelling along the Bruce Highway when it collided with a pedestrian.
Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the 38-year-old woman died at the scene.
The driver of the car escaped unharmed.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
