Woman hospitalised after catching robbers trying to break into her Gold Coast home

A woman is recovering this morning, after sustaining minor injuries in an attempted home robbery at Isle of Capri on Christmas Eve.

She was arriving home to a residence on Etna Street around 3.30pm when she came across a group of teenagers trying to break into her house.

She was allegedly punched in the head a number of times and had her bag stolen, before the teens tried to steal her car.

They were unsuccessful.

The group then fled in another car, which police later determined was stolen.

Paramedics were called to the scene to treat the woman for chest pains, she was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police have since arrested a 17-year-old over the incident, though investigations are continuing.
