Woman hospitalised after Surfers crash forces trams to be suspended

A woman has been hospitalised following a crash that forced trams to be suspended on the Gold Coast early this morning.

It’s understood a vehicle hit a bridge on Ferny Avenue in Surfers Paradise just after 1.30am on Saturday.

As a result, trams were suspended northbound and southbound between Southport and Surfers Paradise North stations.

“Customers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes,” Translink advised at the time.

They have since confirmed services have now returned to normal.

The female motorist managed to escape with minor injuries.

She was treated on scene by paramedics and taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
