Woman hospitalised with serious facial injuries after horrific assault by stranger

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being head-butted and punched in the face in a horrific attack at Mosman overnight.

Police said that shortly after 11.00pm, a 29-year-old woman and her 26-year-old partner left their home to walk their two dogs.

As they started walking along Glover Street they noticed a man on the opposite side of the street calling out to them.

The two women stopped and the man crossed the street and approached them, allegedly yelling abuse.

Police said the man allegedly pushed the 29-year-old woman a number of times before head-butting her and walking away.

The woman then ran after the man and a second confrontation occurred with the man allegedly punching the woman a number of times to her face.

Emergency services were called and the woman was taken to hospital suffering multiple fractures to her eye socket.

The 34-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to North Sydney Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
