Woman ‘serious’ after being hit by car while crossing road

A woman has been rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital after being hit by a car south of Kingscliff overnight.

Emergency crews were called to Tweed Coast Road, near Rosewood Avenue at Bogangar around 9.30pm, after a 64-year-old woman was struck by a Ford Focus while crossing the road.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, stopped and assisted the woman before paramedics arrived.

She was then treated at the scene for head, back and pelvis injuries before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver was breath tested and returned a negative result, however he was also taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit have examined the scene and are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone with dashcam vision is being urged to come forward.
