Investigations underway after woman was hit by a car in Surfers Paradise

Update @7.30am, April 10: The Forensic Crash Unit is investigation a serious traffic crash in Surfers Paradise overnight.

A woman was hit by a car on Ferny Avenue while she was crossing the road, just after 8.00pm.

She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition with head injuries.


The 68-year-old driver of the car was not injured in the incident.

Police are now calling for witnesses to come forward, or anyone who may have dash cam footage.

Earlier @9.00pm, April 9: A woman’s been rushed to hospital after she was hit by a car in Surfers Paradise overnight.

It happened on Cypress Avenue just after 8.00pm.

Emergency services arrived to the scene, near the corner of Ferny Avenue, around 8.15pm.

The 19-year-old woman was in a serious condition, with a significant head injury.

She was treated briefly at the scene, before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Traffic had to be diverted through the area at the time of the incident.

Motorists were urged to completely avoid Gold Coast Highway and use Ferry Road instead.

No other injuries were reported.
