Woman injured in horror head-on crash in Blue Mountains

A WOMAN has been injured and is due to undergo surgery following a horror head-on crash in the Blue Mountains.

The accident happened on the Great Western Highway in Blaxland around 8.30pm on Monday night.

“An eastbound Tiida and a westbound Citroen C3 collided head-on near the intersection of Coughlan Road,” NSW Police said in a statement.


A 27-year-old woman, who was driving the C3, was trapped in the wreckage of her vehicle and had to be released with specialist rescue equipment.

She sustained fractures to her left leg and is due to undergo surgery today.

An 18-year-old woman, who was driving the Tiida, was taken to Nepean Hospital to be checked as a precaution. She has also undergone mandatory testing.

Police are urging anyone with information or dash-cam footage to come forward.
