Woman killed after being struck by car on major Gold Coast road

A WOMAN has died after being struck by a car while trying to run across a busy Gold Coast road.

It’s believed the 61-year-old was running across the Gold Coast Highway in Miami around 7.00pm on Monday when she was struck by a vehicle travelling south.

She suffered critical head injuries in the incident.

Paramedics rushed her to the Gold Coast University Hospital but she died a short time later.

The driver of the car was not physically injured.

The Highway was closed off for some time around Riviera Road as police investigated but the area has since reopened.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing its investigations.

I’m sorry further familys loss,
but this is a timely reminder that people should use the crossing and wait for there turn to cross

Agree, many pedestrians take it for granted that they can dash across the road to get to the beach.
Have to increase the crossings and reduce the speed limit in these built up areas.

So to date we have lost 6 people to Covid in QLD 2020.
The QLD State government closed the borders and ruined thousands of QLD businesses.

We have lost 254 people 2020 due to traffic crashes in QLD.
Most who were at fault and survived would have received a nominal fine and back on our roads
The State government should put those at fault into mandatory 14 day driver training and have them retested before they are allowed back on the roads.
Too many lives lost and who cares!

Very very sad, RIP
