Woman killed, child hospitalised after car hits tree

A WOMAN has been killed and a young girl injured in a shocking single-vehicle crash in northern NSW.

It happened on Stratheden Road at Stratheden, 40 kilometres west of Lismore, just after 9am.

It’s understood the vehicle left the road and rolled before smashing into a tree.


Police said the driver, a woman believed to be aged in her 40s, died at the scene.

A young girl who was also travelling in the car was spared serious injury and taken to hospital for assessment. Her age is not known.

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

No further information was available at the time of writing.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
